A BRIEF HISTORY:
In 1923 the discovery of oil in the Farmington NM area, prompted a need for more narrow gauge tank cars on the D&RGW.
The Union Tank Lines filled this need by converting some of their small, 6,000 gallon standard gauge cars that had been constructed in 1907 - 1908. This conversion was accomplished by fabricating new frames that were wider than the original frame. These wider frames allowed the tank to be mounted lower, and afforded the narrow gauge trucks additional swing. New 4'6" wheelbase, archbar type trucks were also manufactured using 26" wheelsets. New brake rigging was also installed along with Westinghouse K-1 brake cylinders and Session draft gear.
Of the 34 cars known to have been converted between 1924 - 1930, 10 had no heaters, and the balance had either Type "E" or Type "W" heaters. These heaters consisted of nothing more than a coil of tubing lying in the bottom of the tank through which steam was injected, its sole purpose being to heat the thick crude oil to help flow during unloading.
In the late 1930's - early '40's period, 10 of these cars were leased to the Pennsylvania-Conley Tank Lines who in turn leased them to Texaco. These were lettered C.Y.C.X. and numbered 60 - 69. In the late 1940's - early '50's ten cars were leased to CONOCO but these were never renumbered or re-lettered.
Each day more and more decal sets are sold out and GONE FOREVER!

EVEN THOUGH LISTED AS "FACTORY NEW", "LIKE NEW" OR "EXCELLENT", BECAUSE THE ACTUAL AGE OF THIS DECAL SET IS UNKNOWN
, IT IS RECOMMENDED
that you: (A) Test a small unused area of the decal in water to see if it stays intact, and (B) spray two (2) coats of Testors Dullcoat or a similar clear spray or
Microscale Decal Film
(recommended), and let dry 24 hrs before you subject them to water, this will help hold them together when you apply them (Although this is not guaranteed).
Please read and consider this information before you bid. I will not accept a decal set for return OR refund because it disintegrated in water.

The set that you get may contain one or more decals printed on blue, light pink, white, light green, tan, beige, gray or red (dark pink) backing paper.
NOTE:
For Bronze Gold decals that have tarnished, use a "Blitz" cloth purchased from any drug store and polish the decals. Just before use, polish by rubbing the cloth over the decals, cut and soak decal as normal.
