    Description

    Newly Back in Print!
Nickel Plate Road (NKP) Berkshire Steam Locomotive Decals, O-scale
The Nickel Plate had 112 Berkshire class locomotives, 80 of which were built new for the railroad between 1934 and 1949.  The Berks built for NKP were classified as S-1, S-2, or S-3.  The railroad acquired 32 more -- classified by NKP as S-4 -- when it leased the Wheeling and Lake Erie in 1949.  Nickel Plate use Berkshires in mainline freight service through early July of 1958.  Some of the engines were stored serviceable on the property until 1962.  Five Nickel Plate Berkshires have been preserved.  One (NKP 765) operates in fan trip services.  Another (NKP 763) awaits restoration at Age of Steam Roundhouse in Ohio.  NKP 759, now out of service, powered the Golden Spike specials in 1969 and also operated in fan trip service.  It is now stored at Steamtown in Pennsylvania.  Prototype photo is of 757 at
Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum.
Decal is dulux gold and white.
